New World Symphony and Councilwoman Shannan "Lady" Ighodaro invite you to a free outdoor concert celebrating the glamour and innovation of the Harlem Renaissance. Bring your friends and family to the Betty T. Ferguson Recreational Center to hear orchestral, band and jazz music from the 1920s and 1930s. Grab dinner from local food trucks and take a trip back in time to the speakeasies and concert halls of the Jazz Age.
The movie-quality Mobile WALLCAST® videos feature highlights from New World Symphony’s annual I Dream a World: The Harlem Renaissance festival, including NWS Fellows performing orchestral and solo works and The Ambassador Chorale of Florida Memorial University performing traditional gospel songs. Between the videos, NWS Fellows will take the stage to share music from or inspired by the Harlem Renaissance.
This event is presented with thanks to the collaboration and leadership of Councilwoman Ighodaro. NWS's Mobile WALLCAST® Concert Series is made possible with the support of the Dr. M. Lee Pearce Foundation, Wege Foundation and the NWS Resilience Fund.
The NWS Mobile WALLCAST® is a community-driven program that brings the best of New World Symphony to audiences across South Florida. During the 2022-23 season, NWS will present Mobile WALLCAST® Concerts in collaboration with communities throughout Miami-Dade. If you’d like to bring New World Symphony Fellows and innovative Mobile WALLCAST® technology to your community, organization or home, email eduardo.delgado@nws.edu.
