Musicians' Forum Monday

Monday night, March 13 at 7:00 PM, is the third Musicians’ Forum concert of the season.

“Curated and produced by the NWS Fellows, Musicians’ Forums come alive through musical spontaneity and unique artistic partnerships. Join the Fellows for this inspired performance.”

Musicians’ Forums give NWS Fellows valuable experience in concert programming, production and promotion. An exciting example of ‘Fellow-driven’ performances that take place throughout the season, the Musicians’ Forums in the past have included solo, chamber and chamber orchestra repertoire, as well as Fellows’ own compositions.

Tonight’s program takes a diverse walk through classical work from the 20th century through 2001.

Fellows Masha Popova, Alexa Ciciretti and John Wilson perform French composer and flutist Phillipe Gaubert’s Trois Aquarelles for Flute, Cello and Piano (1921).

Fast-flute-forward eighty years to Flute Fellow Kelly Zimba performing British flutist and composer Ian Clarke’s Zoom Tube (2001).

Fellows Kristin Kall, Alex Lee, Jane Mitchell and Alan Ohkubo perform British composer Benjamin Britten’s Phantasy Quartet for Oboe and Strings (1932), written when the composer was 19.

Fellows  Masha Popova, Ran Kampel, Darren Hicks, Sean Maree, Mark Grisez, Ansel Norris, Kelton Koch and Christopher Hernacki make up the octet to perform Stravinsky’s Octet (1923).

And lastly, Cello Fellows Jacob Hanegan, Ian Greenberg, Ashton Lim and Michael Frigo play Argentinean composer Astor Piazzolla’s Tangos, arranged for cello quartet (1974).

Join the Fellows for this inspired performance.
