NWS in the News: December

NWS conducting Fellow Christian Reif, concert of December 13, 2015

This past weekend's concert "Music of Vienna" as led by guest conductor Mark Wigglesworth and New World Symphony Conducting Fellow Christian Reif, received an excellent review from the South Florida Classical Review. Here are some selected excerpts:

"The New World musicians produced a gorgeous string sound in Schoenberg’s aching, late-Romantic harmonies, with great weight and resonance, glowing, perfectly balanced pianissimos and a liquid flow to the music."

"The Andante drew a glowing tone from the orchestra. Wigglesworth led a brisk, pulsing performance."

"The last movement received playing of breadth and grandeur."

W magazine summarized many of the activities at the recent Art Basel festival which took place on Miami Beach and in Miami. One of the highlights that New World Symphony participated in was the opening party for the new arts district in mid-Beach, the Faena Arts District, part of a development which includes hotels, apartments, condos, and arts spaces. The developers are NWS patrons Alan Faena and Ximena Caminos. They were among the guests at last season's NWS gala (see photo).
