For this year’s Give Miami Day campaign, we’re celebrating 36 years of artistic excellence and our commitment to our South Florida community. With live concerts in the Michael Tilson Thomas Performance Hall at New World Center, SoundScape Park, online in webcasts powered by Knight Foundation and throughout South Florida via our Mobile WALLCAST® series, NWS Fellows bring us all together, underscoring the importance of the arts in daily life.
BUILDING COMMUNITY AND CONNECTION
We are committed to transforming the future of classical music by broadening its reach, expanding its relevance and creative inclusive spaces through meaningful connections.
Our Mobile WALLCAST® Concert Series is an essential part of our commitment to make symphonic music accessible to audiences beyond the New World Center. Currently the largest mobile wall in South Florida, the projection wall and state-of-the-art sound system are serving neighborhoods across Miami with WALLCAST® concert content.
FOSTERING LEADERSHIP AND EXCELLENCE
Michael Tilson Thomas co-founded NWS on a bedrock of artistic and educational excellence that flourishes today under the leadership of Stéphane Denève. We are committed to developing a strong global corps of artists and leaders who now serve communities in over 30 countries.
PBS News Hour recently featured NWS Conducting Alum Teddy Abrams, who they say is expanding the playbook at a time when many classical music and other traditional arts organizations are facing major challenges. He's combining music-making with public service and orchestrating community in every corner of his city and state.
DRIVING INNOVATION AND RISK TAKING
NWS is reimagining the concert and fellowship experience for an evolving world, pushing artistic boundaries and piloting innovation digital and physical models that engage our community and inform the field.
NWS BLUE projects allow all Fellows and selected alumni to pursue musical activism based on their personal interests with their own original initiatives, from concept to execution. These special projects guide their continued development, while demonstrating music's ability to have a positive impact on the community, and benefiting South Florida programs and businesses. Standing for Build, Learn, Understand and Experiment, NWS’s BLUE program is a combination of leadership and entrepreneurship training and hands-on experimentation that provides NWS Fellows and alumni with a comprehensive skill set to complement their musical training.
