Mark Morris

Mark Morris is a first-year Horn Fellow at the New World Symphony. Prior to joining NWS, he was a member of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago and an avid freelancer.

Mark has performed with orchestras such as the Fort Wayne Philharmonic, Kenosha Symphony and Symphony847. He also spent a month as the horn player for the Star of the Seas Orchestra aboard a cruise ship. During his summers, Mark has spent time at the Aspen Music Festival and School, as a fellow at Music Academy of the West and most recently as a fellow at the National Repertory Orchestra in Breckenridge, CO.

Born in Temple, Texas, he began playing the horn in the sixth grade and quickly fell in love with the instrument. After graduating high school, Mark attended Northwestern University’s Bienen School of Music, where he earned both a master’s and bachelor’s degree in horn performance. During his studies, he had the great privilege of studying with Gail Williams and Jonathan Boen. Other influential teachers include Haley Hoops, Kevin Rivard, Andrew Bain and Frøydis Ree Wekre.

When not playing his horn, Mark enjoys reading, hiking and baking.
