Community Programs

Community Engagement is an essential part of the New World Symphony fellowship curriculum. Through training and hands-on experience, Fellows develop engagement skills to interact with community members of diverse backgrounds and experiences.

Concerts for Tots at YWCA South Florida

In collaboration with the YWCA of South Florida's early childhood programs, NWS Fellows present music-play sessions for children ages four and under. This engaging concert format is designed for young children based on the Suzuki Early Childhood Education (SECE) program.

Palliative Care at Baptist Health (The Dr. Zinner Concert Series)

NWS brings the power of music to the Baptist Health Herbert Wertheim Cancer Institute, performing for patients, families and healthcare staff. The project introduces curated digital concerts designed to create a calming experience in public spaces and patient rooms, paired with live onsite chamber performances by Fellows.  

Miami Children’s Museum SMART After-School Program

NWS Fellows join the Miami Children's Museum's S.M.A.R.T. after-school program, visiting schools and providing music education and a variety of activities.

Teen Art Force at MoCA North Miami

NWS regularly partners with the Museum of Contemporary Art's (MoCA) Teen Art Force to present a Mobile WALLCAST® concert under the stars. The concert combines jazz-influenced music performed by NWS Fellows with student art displayed on the mobile wall. This event is part of the museum's free Jazz at MoCA series.

The Dan J Epstein Family Foundation Medellín Exchange Program

New World Symphony Fellows have trained at top conservatories and schools of music around the world. Through the Medellín Exchange Program, they visit countries where there is less access to classical music training and welcome international students to New World Center, sharing their knowledge and experience with aspiring young musicians. These cross-cultural exchanges have proven equally beneficial for Fellows in their role as 21st-century musical ambassadors, advocates and engaged teachers.

Pre-Concert Chats

Pre-Concert chats take place in the Truist Pavilion one hour before select performances. Fellows will speak briefly about themselves, the concert program and answer questions. These 30-minute interactions are the perfect way to meet the musicians and learn more about the concert you are about to experience. Pre-concert chats are available to concert ticketholders and seating is first-come, first-served.
