BLUE Projects

The BLUE program (Build, Learn, Understand, Experiment) empowers New World Symphony Fellows and alumni to transform bold ideas into performances, partnerships, research and creative ventures that shape the future of orchestral music.  

Designed as a safe space for experimentation, the program encourages Fellows and alumni to pursue work that reflects their passions while creating meaningful connections with communities, reaching new audiences and strengthening relationships with existing ones. BLUE Projects have launched new concert experiences; built partnerships with hospitals, schools and community organizations; explored accessibility and wellness initiatives and developed innovative resources for musicians and audiences alike. Guided by the values of inclusion, belonging, curiosity and sustainability, each project explores new ways music can serve, inspire and connect.  

Through a unique combination of funding, coaching, cross-departmental mentorship, production support and real-world implementation, BLUE provides Fellows and alumni with the tools to transform ideas into meaningful artistic and community impact.   

More than a funding opportunity, BLUE is an immersive learning experience that complements each Fellow's artistic training. Participants develop skills in leadership, project management, communication, collaboration, fundraising, audience engagement and creative problem-solving while bringing original projects to life.   

While a select group of Fellows and alumni lead BLUE Projects each season, every Fellow participates in the BLUE ecosystem through workshops, mentorship, project collaboration, performances and leadership development.   

The BLUE program is led by Felice Doynov, Associate Dean of Visiting Faculty and Entrepreneurship, who oversees the program's curriculum, mentorship and project development.
