Kelley Osterberg

Oboist Kelley Osterberg is a first-year Fellow at the New World Symphony. She feels equally at home while traveling as a substitute musician with the National Symphony Orchestra and Atlanta Symphony as she does close to home performing with the Falmouth Chorale. Recent years have seen Kelley perform in Germany for Andris Nelsons’ grand Shostakovich Festival Leipzig and on tour in South Africa. 

Kelley moved to Miami Beach from her home in Boston, where she listened, studied, performed and grew into a mature musician. She began as a student in the youth orchestras at the New England Conservatory Preparatory School, returned to the Conservatory for three years of graduate school, listened to countless Boston Symphony concerts and completed two summers of fellowship at the Tanglewood Music Center. Kelley was honored to make her solo debut in Jordan Hall in 2025, performing Gunther Schuller’s tongue-twisting Oboe Sonata as part of the NEC Festival. 

As a soloist, Kelley has performed the R. Strauss Oboe Concerto with conductor Keith Lockhart and the Navarro Legacy Oboe Concerto with Dr. Mallory Thompson. Recent engagements included performances of Prokofiev and Bach for Mayfest at the Cornell International Chamber Music Festival. 

Kelley holds a graduate diploma and a master of music from the New England Conservatory, supported by a Laura Ahlbeck Scholarship and a bachelor of music degree (BM) from Northwestern University. She also holds a bachelor of science in chemical engineering and computer science from Northwestern University, which she completed simultaneously with her BM as a dual-degree student to explore her interest in climate technology. In her free time, Kelley tutors high school and college students in math and science and is often sidetracked by chatting with everyone she meets. 

Kelley is indebted to her teachers John Ferrillo, Anne Marie Gabriele and Scott Hostetler as well as Michael Henoch, Elizabeth England, Mallory Thompson and Brian Cincotta. She is privileged to dedicate her career to music and to passing the tradition of American oboe playing to the next generation.
