Elijah Nice

Elijah Nice is a first-year Percussion Fellow at the New World Symphony. Originally from Pittsburgh, he performed with the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra, Chautauqua Symphony Orchestra and PA Philharmonic, as well as the Rodney Marsalis Philadelphia Big Brass, performing at the Heinz Hall in Pittsburgh and The Marian Anderson Hall of the Kimmel Center in Philadelphia. In 2026 he attended the Texas Music Festival.

Elijah received his bachelor's degree in performance from Temple University in Philadelphia, where he studied with Chris Deviney of The Philadelphia Orchestra, Phillip O’Banion and Bill Wozniak. Elijah furthered his studies at Rice University’s Shepherd School of Music, where he studied with Matthew Strauss of the Houston Symphony. In addition to orchestral and chamber studies throughout the year, he played in several master classes for world-renowned solo artists such as Svet Stoyanov.

A well-rounded musician, Elijah’s musical experience includes classical, jazz and Latin percussion work, numerous solo percussion and chamber music recitals, extensive percussion ensemble performance, audio production and composing. In 2023 he and his colleagues were awarded first place at the Percussive Arts Society International Convention (PASIC) Chamber Competition.

In his free time, Elijah enjoys the outdoors, trying new foods, shopping and staying active.
