Benjamin Liberti

Benjamin Liberti is a first-year Tuba Fellow at the New World Symphony. Prior to joining NWS, he served as Principal Tuba of the Palm Beach Symphony and Florida Grand Opera Orchestra. As a freelance musician throughout South Florida, Ben has also performed frequently with the Naples Philharmonic, The Florida Orchestra and Miami City Ballet.

Ben has spent his summers participating in renowned music festivals including the Aspen Music Festival, Music Academy of the West and Eastern Music Festival, which led to opportunities to study with Warren Deck and Gerard Schwarz, two giants of the orchestral community who would become some of his most influential mentors.

Most recently, he served as guest faculty at the Eastern Festival of Music. Returning to the place where some of his earliest and most formative orchestral experiences occurred provided a highly fulfilling, full-circle moment. Having the opportunity to give back to the next class of rising young artists is a daily source of inspiration and motivation.

Originally from Orlando, Ben earned his master’s degree from the University of Miami, where he served as a Teaching Assistant in the Tuba/Euphonium Studio under Dr. Aaron Tindall. He completed a bachelor of music degree in tuba performance from Rutgers University, where he studied with Alan Baer, Principal Tubist of the New York Philharmonic.

Outside of the concert hall, Ben enjoys watching the NBA, hosting cookouts and going to the beach.
