Isabel Aronin

Isabel Aronin is a first-year Viola Fellow at the New World Symphony. She has performed with orchestras such as Orquesta Sinfonica de Mineria, Juneau Symphony, Jackson Symphony, Adrian Symphony, Ann Arbor Symphony, Michigan Philharmonic, Firelands Symphony and Ashland Symphony.

In addition to playing with an orchestra, Isabel finds great enjoyment performing chamber music. Her 2024-25 quartet, Evergreen, earned the distinguished honor of the Gustave Rosseels endowed scholarship and placed second in the Briggs chamber competition.

Originally from Bethesda, Maryland, Isabel earned a master of music degree from the University of Michigan, where she studied under Caroline Coade and served as principal violist of the University Symphony Orchestra. During this time, she had the opportunity to perform with Wynton Marsalis and the Lincoln Center Orchestra, the Count Basie Orchestra and tour South Africa and New York.

Isabel studied viola performance with Kirsten Docter at the Oberlin Conservatory as a Dean’s Scholar. Prior to that, she was a National Symphony Orchestra Youth Fellow, studying with Tsuna Sakamoto and Jennifer Mondie. Her summer experiences include programs at Round Top, Aspen Music Festival, Spoleto Festival and Chautauqua.

She also studied with other notable musicians including Christian Colberg, Milena Pajaro-van de Stadt, Jonathan Vinocour, Lynne Ramsey, Jeffrey Irvine, Ayane Kozasa, Lawrence Dutton, Roger Myers, Susan Dubois, Brett Deubner, Christiano Rodriguez, Daniel Foster and Bill Foster.

When not creating music, Isabel enjoys reading, crocheting, paint-by-numbers and cuddling with her dog Wally!
