Chi-Hsien Chen

Chi-Hsien Chen is a first-year Violin Fellow at the New World Symphony. Her orchestral experience spans Taiwan, the United States, Canada and Europe. In Taiwan, she was a regular substitute with the Kaohsiung Symphony Orchestra and performed with the Taiwan Artists Symphony Orchestra, Taiwan Soloists Symphony Orchestra, Apex Symphony Orchestra and Tainan Symphony Orchestra. Other performances include the Terre Haute Symphony Orchestra, Columbus Indiana Philharmonic, Owensboro Symphony Orchestra and Oklahoma City Philharmonic, among others.

Chi-Hsien recently completed her master of music degree in violin performance at Indiana University, where she studied with Professor Kyung Sun Lee. She previously earned her bachelor of fine arts in violin performance from the National Kaohsiung Normal University, studying with Dr. Meng-Ping Wu.

Passionate about orchestral collaboration and leadership, Chi-Hsien has held several concertmaster and leadership positions throughout her musical development. She served as assistant concertmaster of the Indiana University Philharmonic Orchestra and held concertmaster positions with the University of Oklahoma Symphony Orchestra and National Kaohsiung Normal University Symphony Orchestra. Her international orchestral experiences include serving as concertmaster of the Orchestre de la Francophonie in Canada and the Asian Youth Orchestra in Europe.

Through her experiences across diverse musical environments, Chi-Hsien has developed a strong interest in orchestral performance and collaborative music-making. She is excited to continue growing as an artist, exploring new musical perspectives and contributing to the New World Symphony community.
