David Carreon

Filipino-Australian violinist David Carreon is a first-year Fellow at the New World Symphony. He has performed throughout the United States, Europe and Australia as a soloist, chamber and orchestral musician. Recent appearances include Boston Symphony Hall, Jordan Hall and Sydney Opera House, as well as collaborations with North Country Chamber Players and Grammy-nominated ensemble A Far Cry. Orchestral engagements include principal positions with the Atlantic Symphony Orchestra, Boston Chamber Symphony and Boston Philharmonic Orchestra. He was also a finalist for the 2026 Chicago Symphony Orchestra Fellowship and a semi-finalist for the 2026 New Jersey Symphony Colton Fellowship.

Deeply passionate about chamber music, David has collaborated and performed with artists including Donald Weilerstein, Kim Kashkashian, Ronnie Bauch, Susan Palma Nidel and Ara Gregorian, as well as members of the Borromeo, Manhattan and Ridge string quartets. He has also performed in master classes with Michael Kannen, Maria Lambros, Sibbi Bernhardsson and Laurie Smukler.

Festival participation includes LyricaFest, Spoleto Festival USA and Orvieto Musica. Most recently, David was invited to be a Mentor Artist at the inaugural NEC Summer Chamber Music Young Artist Program.

David earned both his master of music degree and graduate diploma in violin performance from the New England Conservatory, where he was awarded the Surdna Foundation scholarship and won the NEC Chamber Honors and A Far Cry Collaborative Competition. He earned a bachelor of music degree from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. His primary teachers include Kristopher Tong, Goetz Richter and Liisa Pallandi.

Outside of music, David maintains his passions for working out, playing and following sports—particularly basketball and rugby—while possessing an embarrassing amount of Pokémon knowledge.
