Whitney Ross

Whitney Ross is a San Francisco-based dancer, choreographer and educator. Originally hailing from the Bay Area, she began her training in a local college prep program, where she had the chance to work with renowned artists such as Sidra Bell, Cindy Salgado and Anthony Lomuljo. Ross earned a BFA in dance and a BS in ecology from the University of California, Santa Barbara, where she performed in works by Shen Wei and Jose Limon, among others, and began exploring her choreographic voice.

Since returning to the Bay, Ross has performed with Robert Moses’ Kin, Pearl Street Dance Collective, Joe Landini Dance and Mannakin Dance Theater. She has presented original choreography in festivals and performances throughout California, including a previous collaboration with her brother, New World Symphony Horn Fellow Braydon Ross.

Ross’s choreography is rooted in collaboration and musicality, with a particular interest in the relationship between movement and live performance. She is drawn to creating work that invites audiences into emotionally resonant, physically dynamic worlds.

Ross is honored to collaborate with the New World Symphony for this exciting evening of live music and dance, and with the dancers who have committed so much to this process. She is especially grateful to her brother, Braydon, whose musicianship, encouragement and shared creative vision have made this collaboration possible. After years of creating and performing together, she is deeply thankful for the opportunity to continue their artistic partnership on this stage and to celebrate the power of live performance.
