Conducting Fellowship
The Conducting Fellowship is not currently accepting applications. Please email admissions@nws.edu to be notified when applications reopen in Fall 2026.
New World Symphony offers a one-year Conducting Fellowship. Unlike other NWS fellowships, the Conducting Fellowship is not renewable for a second or third year.
The online application asks for biographical information, three essay questions, a current resume, a conducting video, contact information for three letters of recommendation and a non-refundable application fee of $65.
The conducting video should show the applicant conducting in rehearsal and/or performance, preferably from a variety of musical periods and, if possible, a variety of ensemble sizes.
Applicants may audition for the New World Symphony at any time during their studies, but they cannot be considered for a NWS fellowship until they have completed their present course of study. A baccalaureate degree, or the equivalent, is required of all NWS Fellows. Doctoral students must have completed their residency requirements to be considered for a fellowship.
All new Fellows must have transcripts of their most recent degree sent to NWS. Applicants are not required to have a bachelor's degree in music in order to apply.
