About

From wooded Bohemian forests to a deal with the Devil, Tunes and Tales explores the charming sounds and stories of Eastern Europe.

Martinů whisks you away to the Czech village of his youth for folk dances, medieval stone walls and ancient Slavic traditions. In his imaginary land of Dogora, Perruchon draws inspiration from Balkan rhythms and Hungarian modes to create a hypnotic dialogue between the Cello and Timpani.

A soldier encounters the Devil on his way home and trades his violin for a magic book promising great wealth. Hear Russian motifs, military marches and tangos in Stravinsky’s The Soldier's Tale.

All tickets are pay what you wish! Whether you pay $10 or $100 dollars, every ticket you buy supports NWS Fellows, the future leaders of our art form.
